Health is Wealth.
Prevention is better than cure, the phrase is quite appropriate even, today.
ICRIER has reported that theme of “Preventive Healthcare” has grown in India by 25% in the past five years. Though, majority of the younger generations, even today, talking more on the lines of “Wealth is Health”, the mantra of the day and prevention has no meaning for them.
Mr. Harsh Swaroop, Executive Vice President of one of the MNC, a few months back turned to age of 38. A very hard worker-better to say –workaholic, 14-16 hours hectic work schedule, suddenly one day discovered that he has Blood Pressure and Diabetes. The laboratory report disclosed as an unpleasant shock to him and his family. Doctor has advised him for proper treatment and rest for few days but he was not ready to take leave because of his responsibilities of day to day work schedule. I would like to comment here that if he would have taken care of his daily routine, diet and exercise, he would not have been come in to the grip of such problems. This all can be prevented if one can manage properly his daily routine and control diet with regular but light exercise.
This is not only one simple case study but when you look around, you will find that most of the people, men or women, no gender differentiation, when falling under the age bracket of 38-40 are diagnosed, with so called diseases like blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, stress, strokes, spondalities, heart attack, etc.This is all because of hectic- hap-hazards life style, wrong food habits, no proper work schedule, late night parties, no sound sleep, avoiding morning walk and exercise, preferences and priorities are to earn more money and live lavish life style but all in stressful environment. When they discover all these problems, their growths in all respect are checked. MNCs and even most of the Indian companies also, have made the thumb rule that regular health check-up is compulsory. The career growth is also affected.
Thus, no way but to prevent yourself from so called illness and it is very clear that “Prevention is better than cure” and more appropriate rather than treating the –diseases. The growing consciousness about the health issues among people is very positive.
Qualitative food is the base of healthy life. A lot of health problems-illness can be prevented with day to day foods which we intake regularly.
The empty stomach can not help to take the right decision. It has been disclosed by the scientist that if your stomach is full with tasty and healthy food the hormones-SEROTONIN level in the brain will go up and in result of that brain works- properly and fast. Therefore in most of the cases; your decision will be quite correct. The high levels of SEROTONIN always stimulate the brain to work properly. This has been clearly disclosed by the scientist and even doctors that “Breakfast is very important rather than lunch.” Thus,”Break fast” can not be skipped but lunch can be avoided if you want your right decision through out the day. This will help you in your career growth.
Triptofan-aminoacids found in Seed food, dry fruits, banana, curd, chocolate which generate the SEROTONIN hormones in brain are good if you include every day in your diet. If you avoid your food or skip the meals, the sufficient quantity of SEROTONIN will not be produced in the brain and in result of that you will feel week and unhealthy and your decision may be wrong or may not be very appropriate in certain cases which may affect your career or profession.
But this is also equally important that over eating is harmful. Only required calories are to be taken. Calories can be decided depending on your work and life styles. A wrestler always required more calories while a person sitting on the table would prefer less than the usual diet. One should be very particular about the food and digestion. If your digestion is not in order then you will suffer with a number of diseases. Avoid over eating and give preference to veggies. Between two meals, at least 3 hours gap is advisable for good health. Neither keeps your stomach full nor should it be empty.
World health organization has reported that in India around 6 crore people are suffering from heart problems only. The number is increasing day by day. Thus, again we should say prevention is better than cure and there is no option but to change your life style and food habits, if you want to live long and healthy life.
To keep fit you check your intake everyday, what you are taking and what to be taken.
In our day to day food, 50-60% intake should be Carbohydrates-the rich source of our energy. The sources of Carbohydrates are milk, fruits, grains, rice, pasta; starch based green vegetables-all fiber based food substance. Importance of fibers: fiber help in our digestive systems. At least 30-50 grms fiber must be taken. Fiber based food substance are Oatmeal, Seeds, dry peas, pulses, strawberry, blueberry. These all food substance is good to lower down the cholesterol in blood and thus can prevent from heart stroke or any other heart problems.
Protein: Out of total calories, scheduled for a day, 15-20 % protein should be taken every day. World health organization has disclosed that at least 50 grms protein must be taken every day. Protein rich diet is milk, paneer, curds, meat and fish. But give preference to veggie proteins. It has also been detected that non vegetarian are more pro to heart problems as compared to Vegetarians. Protein is required to maintain the body cells.
If you are taking good and qualitative food and your stomach is full your body resistance will increase and you can easily avoid even the seasonal affect. Think, when season changes, some people are affected not the all; it is all because of power of body resistance-immunity, already developed with in the body itself with good, qualitative food. Empty stomach will always create the problems
Our kitchen is the best place for treatment of several diseases. In Indian kitchen a lot of spices are available through which one can take be prevented from certain causes of ill-health. For example, TURMERIC is a very effective spice in Indian kitchen, through which a number of illnesses can be controlled. One tea spoon of Turmeric powder with milk can prevent the clotting in the veins. Because of its medicinal properties, Turmeric has been patented by the American Government.
Just take care of your food items, avoid all junk food, soft drinks, alcohol, smoking and add more veggies, do morning walk, jogging, light exercise, yoga and meditation, you can recover yourself from all your disease and illnesses.
Regular health checkup is very important. It should not be avoided under any circumstances.
Live long life; always keep in mind “prevention is better than cure”
