- To ease the pain caused by mouth ulcers, boil Gauva leaves in water till its thick and gargle with it 6-7 times a day.
- Those who are troubled by excessive bile should regularly have Gooseberry (Amla) Jam.
- To treat a sprained foot, rub fresh or dry coconut on the sprain. Then make a small sac filled with Turmeric powder. Heat this sac on a pan to a touchable heat and press this hot sac on the sprain. It will alleviate the pain.
- For those troubled by Constipation – have water mixed with honey in the night. The stomach will be clean in the morning.
- To treat Ringworms or Shingles, apply Kerosene on it 2-3 times in the day.
- Walk bare-footed on grass morning and night. It soothes the eyes.
- If a honey bee stings, apply the juice of onion on the sting to reduce the burning sensation.
- If the stomach bloats or you feel a tension there, massage the stomach with Kerosene. Have the juice of Mint leaves. It will help in releasing the stomach and for hunger.
- Dysentery can be treated by having ‘Isabgul’ mixed in curds.
- Rheumatic persons should have an Apple every day on an empty stomach.
- Eat mint leaves with sugar or suck on them slowly to cure hiccups.
- To treat dry and chapped lips, fill the belly-button with Ghee mixed with salt and go to sleep. Do this for a few days.
- If the teeth are infected with Pyorrhoea or are yellow, mix Turmeric powder and rock salt in mustard oil and massage the teeth everyday with this mixture. The yellowness will vanish.
- If the skin darkens in colour, apply a mixture of powdered Almonds, Turmeric powder and curds. It’ll clear the blackness.
- To set curds, put some alum powder and a blackberry in lukewarm milk. The curds will set as good as that available in the market.
- To gather fresh cream and keep it fresh, add some curds to it.
- If Dosas do not turn out as crisp as wanted, grind the batter with some white lentils (Urad Dal), gram pulse (Channa Dal) and Methi seeds or some puffed rice. The dosa will come out crisp.
- Put some Suji in Malai Kofta so that the koftas do not break.
- To clean the heels, apply the juice of raw Papaya to the heels and clean it after 2.5 hours.
- If you want the rice to turn out aromatic, boil rice with sweet Neem.
- While making ‘Pride’ rice, sprinkle some milk on the rice. The rice will separate easily.
- After having bought a new cooker, make ‘Kheer’ or a milk-based item first. This will ensure that the cooker never blackens in future.
- To preserve coconut after breaking it, or boiled Potatoes, put some Vinegar in a container and keep the item in the Vinegar.
- Put some salt in rice when cooking it. The rice will separate easily after cooking.
- Sprinkle some salt on the pan before making a ‘Dosa’ or a ‘Chilla’ so that it doesn’t stick to the pan.
- To treat cough, cold and fever, boil 7-8 Basil leaves and 5 pieces of Clove in a glass of water. Boil till the water burns to half. Mix salt and sugar to taste and drink this preparation. Cover with a warm blanket and go to sleep after having this. Make sure the affected person is not exposed to air and let the person sweat.
- In case an infant catches a cold, give the infant a few drops of the mixture of Ginger juice, honey and Basil juice. Give it in little quantities only.
- In case of insomnia, head ache and sinus, massage the head with Almond oil. Also put a few drops of Almond oil in the nose.
- Diabetic patients should have the 5-5 leaves of Periwinkle or the flower every day on an empty stomach. It’ll help ease the Diabetes.
- To treat Diabetes, have the mixed juice of cucumber, tomatoes and bitter gourd every day on an empty stomach in the morning.
- Eat blackberries. Dry the seed and powder it. Have it every day, day and night.
- For all kinds of ailments, eat
Wheat, Split Bean with the husk (Chilke wali Moong Dal), Long Gourd, Ridge Gourd, Raw Papaya, Carrots, Spinach, fresh Fenugreek, Pointed Gourd (Parwal), Bitter Gourd, Cabbage, Roots, Green Chillies, a little ginger, Cow’s milk and Ghee is wholesome.
Fruits to eat – Apple, Papaya, Guava, Chikoo, Pomegranate, Blackberries, Sweet Lime, Dry Fruits, Cashew, Almonds, Raisins, Large Raisins, Dry Dates, Dry Fig.
What not to eat- Any ill person shouldn’t have these foods:
Tea, Coffee, Cold-drinks, Ice-cream, junk food, Tobacco, Betel leaves, meat and alcohol and things made of fine wheat flour (Maida).
- To cure Hernia or dryness of skin, eat loads of Taro or Colocasia (Arvi).
